Performance Management Technique for Virtual Employees

Virtual employees are working on remote basis and these are the freelance employees. It is a must to check the performance management of these employees are well to get a clear idea on the development of the organizations. It is becoming as an individual contract basis and still, the need of managing the better performance level is important in each employee (Dávideková et al., 2017) .


There are different performance management techniques available in the human resource management applications (Schleicher et al., 2018).

Identification of different types of performance management and appraisal is important to come up with a technique for the performance appraisal for the virtual employees. There are different techniques available in literature as shown in figure (Verhoest & Wynen, 2018).

When it comes to the virtual employees, performance management can be used different applications such as (Eaidgah et al., 2018).

Dealing with virtual employees is not as easy as dealing with the employees present in workplace. Managing the performance also goes the similar applications.

Along with these applications, it can be recorded that the performance management technique can be created for the virtual employees with a better plan and this needed to be undertaken with better identifications to get more clarity.

Evaluation of the virtual employees can be the first stage here and it can be undertaken with several stages as follows (Niles, 2021).


  • Creation of review template

  • Encouraging the self-evaluation of the performances

  • Usage of video conferencing tools

  • Providing the clear objectives and monitoring on achieving these

  • Provide clear feedbacks

  • Two – way dialogue creation

  • Frequency in reviewing

  • Productive online performance applications can be use

These steps can be done in a clear technique of the performance management for the virtual employees. Encouraging on the benefits of the performance management can make sure the clear participation of the virtual employees. It needed to have the clear steps which the employees are liking in getting success in the process (Newman & Ford, 2021).

Remote employees can provide better performance while enhancing their career level with the better performance management techniques where the participation of them also can be recorded in successful level.
